It was lovely to see the Nell Forrest murder mystery series shortlisted for several years in the
Davitt Awards (Sisters in Crime), and then - most recently - to have the first book
Nefarious Doings
featured in the 12 Lighthearted Mystery Series for Voracious Readers wiki. If you want to see Nell come to life in the short video,

.
Congratulations to Kat, Sally and Shelleyrae
, who have each won naming rights in the Nell Forrest murder mysteries. They have now each moved into the fictional town of Majic. I’ll drop by with a casserole! And also congratulations to Colleen and Helen, who have both won a prize pack of books for the bookshelf competition. Thanks to all who entered - I loved the bookshelves, including the weird and wonderful ones!

(Still) very pleased that a piece I wrote for the National Times
(
Bruised Women Fade to Black in Newton Saga
won the 2011 EVA (Eliminating Violence Against Women) Award for best online journalism. A great initiative and a great honour. Other pieces published recently include
Balls: an optional extra
(Online Opinion, June 2012), and
Auntie Takes the Prize
(Mamamia, September 2012).
The blog at

has been temporarily suspended (due to time constraints) - but the book (tentatively titled
The Invisible Woman, and other remarkable phenomena of middle-age
), will still forge ahead - eventually.
I’m on both Facebook and Twitter now
